Cheaters in Online Poker 1: The Prevalence of Online Poker Cheating

The Prevalence of Online Poker Cheating
Cheating is a truism that exists in almost every facets of human life. It is often the last resort of people who want to get what they desire in the easiest and quickest way possible even if it means that the method being used is highly illegal.

In general, cheating has been known to occur most often in games, especially in gambling games like poker. In these situations, the apparent aim of the cheating player is to beat his opponents. To achieve the said goal, the player is compelled to either play well or do everything in his power to double cross other players.

With the introduction of internet games, it is assumed that cheating will somehow be minimized. In a way, that is true basically because the internet provides novices and even professional players the opportunity to play the game initially for free -- a sort of practice-play feature -- so players can familiarize themselves with the games offered in the online casino. In addition, the fraud issue is somehow hampered by the online games' offers that guarantee greater and relatively easier chances of winning. For instance, online poker games have been known to produce millionaires through several major poker tournaments. With this in place, it is assumed that cheating will eventually find no space in the realm of virtual games. Yet, the assumptions did not come about. Still, scams and million-dollar swindles occur in some casinos.

Cheating temporarily slackened up and did not completely disappeared from the gambling realm Rather, it bounced back from its starting point and came out more powerful and sophisticated than ever. Its presence in internet poker games is felt in both renowned and newly-established online- poker software tools used by several players during a given tournament period. Cheating prevailed on the said casino programs and were supported by desperate poker players. However, it failed to penetrate majority of the gambling sites since it was banned in several poker sites.

Generally, online sites are the ones which set the terms as to whether or not a particular software is fit for use in a given poker game. It does not matter if the software is excellent and recommended by prominent gambling personalities. If the site where players are currently participating in considers the software is illegal, then that's the end of it.

Nevertheless, most online poker software tools are known to be expensive and for that reason alone, a number of poker players refuse to patronize them. However, an estimated 17 percent of all the internet players reportedly use the casino program tools. Although such tools are specifically declared illegal by some online sites, no more than one percent of all internet poker gamers at one time or another attempt to make use of them. This may be considered a small number at present, but we have to realize that these software tools are being produced at a very fast rate. If largely unchecked, a number of them will soon flood the market and a simple monitoring may not be sufficient in the long run. Ideally, if one highly questionable software poker game tool becomes immensely popular, poker rooms must come up with special programs to counter the said software.
