Cheaters in Online Poker 2: Why Poker Players Cheat Online

Why Poker Players Cheat Online
Every once in a while, we ask ourselves why some people are not satisfied with simply playing a particular game on equal terms. We wonder why some players can't just stick to poker rules and avoid using tricks or game manipulations that give undue advantages to just one player and leave the other participants empty-handed. In other words, why do some players resort to game cheating just so they can win a particular tournament?

There are some people who believe that players cheat simply because it's human nature. They believe that the idea of cheating prevails in almost all gamers that if poker gamers are granted the opportunity, they will most likely to give in to cheating so they can achieve their goals whether be it in games, competitions or life-and-death situations.

In gambling, cheating happens all the time. Almost all forms of gambling games have certain degrees of cheating involved in them. In the game known as poker, cheating is even more pronounced. This is basically because the very essence of poker focuses on deception, which, when seen from a different angle, falls under the category of cheating.

Many players, even the prominent and successful ones, are known to employ bluffing techniques in their games every once in a while. A bluff, in simple terms, is a poker strategy wherein players attempt to make their opponents believe that they are holding a particularly strong hand when in fact they don't. The goal in bluff strategy is simply to force the other players to fold or back off so the cheater can eventually get hold of the prize. In essence, players who bluff deceive their opponents and use their ability and knowledge of the technique to cheat their opponents.

Of course, it may be argued that bluffing has been a traditionally accepted practice in any poker-game variant. It is even cited as one of the reasons why poker has enjoyed such immense popularity. Yet, bluffing may also be considered as one of the reasons why poker is also known as a cheater's game.

Nevertheless, the introduction of poker in the interactive setting has generally contributed to the gradual acceptance of poker as a more decent game than it was before the internet came into being. Today, online poker games are being played on more or less equal footing, with less obvious signs of bluffing and other manipulative actions and behaviors.

Still, some degree of cheating continue to exist even on the online stage. Poker cheating in this particular age has somehow become more sophisticated and in some cases, virtually undetectable. Why some players persist in this kind of attitude is perhaps more of a personal question. Or, perhaps, players are simply carrying on a long-held tradition in playing poker -- that for a player to win big, a dose of deception must be employed every once in a while. In other words, players are compelled to cheat, deceive, and manipulate their plays and opponents because they want to grab the pot and prove their outstanding gaming capabilities.
